Allison Wielobob is the General Counsel of the American Retirement Association. In this role, she directs the legal activities of ARA, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and advises senior management on strategies and their implementation. Allison also participates in ARA’s advocacy efforts, representing the member associations of the ARA in communications with Congress and government agencies. Allison Wielobob brings more than 20 years of employee benefits law experience—both in government service and private practice—advising on a range of legal matters under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Prior to joining ARA, Allison practiced at a large international law firm and served as a legislation counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation of the U.S. Congress working on employee benefits legislative matters. Allison also worked at the U.S. Department of Labor, on the staff of the Office of Regulations and Interpretations of the Employee Benefits Security Administration and as an attorney-adviser in the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service. She is a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
Allison got her undergraduate degree at Trinity College (Connecticut) and her legal education at Temple University (J.D.) and Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M.).
